The TL-5955 is a Tadiran primary lithium-thionyl chloride (Li-SOCl₂) cell in the 2/3 AA format: 3.6 V nominal, 1.5 Ah capacity, bobbin construction with hermetic glass-to-metal sealing and a non-flammable electrolyte. Its low self-discharge gives a 10+ year shelf life and stable voltage over the whole discharge curve, which is exactly why it is the default memory-backup and metering cell for PLCs, CNC controls, flow computers, utility meters and remote data loggers. Operating range spans -55 to +85 °C.
